5.0 out of 5 stars There is a new Ghost-hunting Gal in town!June 30, 2014
This review is from: GHOST GAL: The Wild Hunt (Volume 1) (Paperback)
The first book in a planned new series of adventures based (loosely) on the Ghost hunting adventures of Alexandra Holzer, daughter of the venerable Hans Holzer who is credited as being the first of the modern scientific investigators of the paranormal. This adventurer depicts a multigenerational encounter with the Slaugh, the malignant master of The Wild Hunt of Celtic Mythology. Hans Holzer had defeated the Slaugh during World War II and imprisoned him. Now fate was released this rapacious spirit into the United States in the 1960s thirsting for blood and revenge on his captor and his entire family. Alexandra and her fiancé must now confront this resurrected evil in its most vicious and blood-thirsty form. But even with the help of her famous father can Alexandra triumph over the rampaging fury of The Wild Hunt?

This is a terrific, somewhat dark story, of supernatural horror and adventure. The story flows beautifully and carries you to a action packed climax with some surprises along the way. It is a perfect summer read.

As an added bonus is an introduction by Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore one of the Ghostbusters from the hit movies.

Ghost Gal: The Wild Hunt by Bobby Nash

Alexandra Holzer’s father Hans had once imprisoned a Slaugh beneath the ruble of a castle. Built in
Ireland, and painstakingly taken down and reassembled in New Hampshire, the Castle was woven
through with a power that kept the Slaugh from leaving. Then it possessed the owner of the castle’s

Still, a simple grenade was enough to bind it to the possessed man and bury them both beneath
the ruble of the greater portion of the castle. The castle’s owner, Conrad Bartlett, has the ruins
paved over with specialized materials and remade into a park. When Conrad dies, his son Max,
in an attempt to follow his father’s dying wishes has the park dug up and repaired.

Now, twenty-two years after Hans Holtzer put the Slaugh in the ground, this young man’s careless
move has set the Sin Eater free. It quickly possesses Max, and moves to free its four brothers from
their own bonds.

Enter Alexandra Holtzer and her fiancé, Joshua Demerest who are running their own ghost hunting
business. The newly freed Slaugh seek revenge on Hans Holzer and will gladly take his family.

The battle with the Slaugh spreads, involving among other things two strange organizations:
one apparently ran by guardian angels the other by a group of demons. When Alexandra finds
herself stalked, she turns to Jacob Black, who could be termed “the devil.” Her angelic friend,
Samuel Esau, recognizing the gravity of the situation, reluctantly joins forces with his counterpart,

Thrill to paranormal Pulp at its best as Ghost Gal Alexandra Holtz and her parents, fiancé, and
allies take on an evil that hasn’t walked the earth for centuries! Bobby Nash has managed to build
his story so that like the stones of the castle imprisoned the Slaugh, his paragraphs hold the
attention of the reader from page one. Another five star Pulp book that will delight the connoisseur
and newcomer alike!

Can there be anyone who isn’t aware of Hans Holzer’s many non-fiction books on the paranormal? Fewer may be aware that he also wrote novels of the supernatural. I certainly wasn’t. I now have a list of books I need to track down.

I was also unaware that his daughter, Alexandra, had followed her father into the paranormal investigation business. In fact, this was the first time I’d actually heard of her. Now, in a bid to follow her late father into the fiction business too, she’s allied herself with the award-winning New Pulpster, Bobby Nash, and this book is the first result.

The book opens with an introduction from Ernie Hudson, of ‘Ghostbusters’ fame. The sad death of Harold Ramis having put paid to any hope of another movie in that franchise, Hudson officially passes the baton to Alexandra, ending his introduction with, “Who you gonna call? GHOST GAL! That’s who.”
